Big Buck Day April 1st 2007 Photos, Awards And Report
Big Buck Day 2007 Report The 12th Annual Big Buck Day has come and gone, and it turned out to be another big success with:
The winner of the non-typical class was Frank Argue with a score of 229 4/8. Larry Zahourski and Mitchell Barkley tied in the typical class with a score of 171 2/8. The winning moose class was won by Gerry Dinesen with a score of 193 7/8, 1 1/8 points shy of Boone and Crockett. The raffle winner was club member Todd Smith who chose the gift certificate donated by Linda Monery Taxidermy, from a large selection of donated prizes. Speakers David Gibson of Powerseeds, Lindsay and Ken C Capling, World Champion Moose Caller, both donated substantial prizes. In the absence of the third speaker, SCOBGA President Norm Monaghan gave an informative talk on our club. I thank the speakers and the exhibitors for their contributions. Also, I sincerely thank all of our volunteers - the people at the registration table, the admissions table, those in the computer room, the measuring room, the SCOBGA booth, those looking after the deer and moose racks, and all the people who worked in the kitchen - they sold out of most of the food – pop, hot dogs, moose chili, and over 140 venison sausage. Special thanks are extended to the Beasley brothers who took over measuring the moose and gave us a lot of free advertising. Our own awards were presented also –
Our profits will again this year go toward the fish hatchery; and also the Deer Harvest Survey, a project of the Northern Outdoor Studies Program in co-operation with the MNR, Ontario Deerhound Association and Ontario Sporting Dog Association. Our 13th Annual Big Buck Day will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2008, again at the Little Britain Community Centre, at 9 am. We may be relocating to the cement pad on the main floor [where the ice usually is]. Randy M Love |
